This article highlights the significant contributions of the Escuela Tecnológica Instituto Técnico Central (ET.ITC) in shaping the current system of higher education, especially concerning technical education, technology and engineering cycles, which was conceptualized Act 749 in 2002. The School of Technology presented the paper “Future desirable for technical education and technology” at the Second National Congress of Higher Education of Colombia, which took place in the cities of Armenia and Pereira, in December 2002, which is reproduced in this article and was a prominent reference document for discussions that gave rise to the bill that ended with the enactment of the law that governs today referred to technical education, technology and engineering cycles.
